Istanbul Archaeology Museums Sarcophagus
Sarcophagus of Gymnasiarch Gerostratos with Dionysiac Relief, made of marble, from Beirut, Lebanon, and dating to the Roman period around 2nd century AD on display in the main building of the Istanbul Archaeology Museums. The Istanbul Archaeology Museums, housed in three buildings in what was originally the gardens of the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, Turkey, holds over 1 million artifacts relating to Islamic art, historical archeology of the Middle East and Europe (as well as Turkey), and a building devoted to the ancient orient.
