Photo of Closeup of Snakehead Fish at National Aquarium
Introduced from China, the snakehead fish has disrupted native fish and marine animals of the Central Atlantic region, particularly in the Potomac. This specimen is on display in a tank in the National Aquarium in the Department of Commerce building in downtown Washington DC. The National Aquarium is in the basement of the Department of Commerce Building, where it has been housed since 1932. Much smaller and less well known than its affiliated facility in Baltimore, Washington's National Aquarium consists of a series of tanks illustrated various types of marine environments, with special emphasis on the many marine sanctuaries in U.S. marine territory.. Please note that at full size scratches are visible on the tank's glass.
